Grumpy Accountant

I observe

The older I become, the more disillusioned I become with the way that greed, selfishness, inequality and poverty have come to characterize our society.       Underlying these problems seems to be a widespread lack of principle and courage of the type described by Richard Murphy at Tax Justice Network and Ben Goldacre at Bad Science – see blogroll below.

I make no bones about being a bit of a leftie or for believing passionately that people must always come before money.   But I suspect that, regardless of political conviction, there would be widespread support for the notion that enough is enough, that we can no longer tolerate the promotion by default of greed and the constant widening of the gap between the haves and the have-nots that inevitably follows.     Even those who don’t share my politics must surely see that most of them are heading towards the have-nots under the gutless political leadership we all have to endure.

Time to speak up, I believe.
